In early 2005, the American Bankruptcy Institute awarded Stephen J. Lubben, Daniel J. Moore Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law,  $345,000 grant to conduct the most comprehensive, independent empirical study of professional fees in chapter 11 cases to date.

This study’s database includes approximately 1,050 chapter 11 cases filed in 2004 – almost more than 1,000 more cases than the next largest American study.
